Q) What exactly is Bankwood Bear?
A) First and foremost, a catchy name and an excuse for drawing a bear in a hammock, but the ambition is for Bankwood Bear Productions to be a platform where people can collaborate, get creative and showcase their favourite conversations, essentially acting as an umbrella brand for all sorts of content.
Q) … and the ‘Talking Out Loud’ podcast?
A) Talking out Loud (ToL) is a podcast and the initial offering from Bankwood Bear, a podcast that has been in my head for the last couple of years but it wasn’t until my last trip out in India (Oct ’17) that I actually bit the bullet and hit the record button. What started out as an experiment has become a real passion of mine, the podcast is a chance for me to take a seat with interesting folk from around the world, capture a moment in time, and get a window into their world.
Long form conversations aren’t for everyone but I’ve been obsessed with this format for some time now, the great Joe Rogan an inspiration of course alongside Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson, Christopher Ryan and Russell Brand, to name a few. It just seems to me the best and most consistent way to get someone’s personality and message across, and I’m finding people to be more relaxed and genuinely thoughtful when they’ve more than 3 minutes to get their point of view across, it also means tangents a plenty!
Finally that old cliché ‘Sharing is caring’ is definitely something ToL is trying to live, if you fancy a guest host slot then make sure you reach out and get in touch, we’d love to hear from ya!
Q) So whats the aim?
A) At a personal level, ToL is my excuse to ask better questions, the podcast is an active record of my experiences and a good measure of how Parky I’m getting. Ultimately I’d love to see guest hosts take the reigns and take ToL in their own direction.
Q) If I did wanna get involved, how would I go about doing that?
A) Just send us a message, you can do whatever you like, record a deep conversation with your mates, send in a travel or sports compilation video, a comedy sketch whatever and we’ll decide where to go from there. 🙂
